Dr. Philip Grant holds a B.Mus. (Opera) from the University of British Columbia, an MBA from Simon Fraser University, and a Ph.D. from KTH-Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. Philip's professional career began in 2002 and spanned over 300 performances around the world. Highlight performances include engagements with San Francisco Opera and the National Centre for Performing Arts in Seoul, S. Korea.
Quickly becoming a highly sought-after clinician, Philip has given PVIs to over 200 Barbershoppers and has delivered workshops to more than a dozen BHS chapters, including the Masters of Harmony, Acapella Texas, and New Trradition since he began coaching a few years ago. He joined the faculty at Harmony University in 2019 and has enjoyed designing and teaching a variety of courses such as Mechanics of Artistic Singing, Vocal Techniques for Directors, Posting like a Pro, Practicing like a Pro, Fixing your Flubbing, Critical Listening, 3 Steps to Pro Diction, Healthy Habits for Healthy Singing, and Bel Canto to Barbershop. Dr. Grant is also a Judging Candidate in the BHS Singing Category but most of all, he delights in singing with his wife Donya, and her brothers Tom and Mark in their mixed quartet, Metzin’ Around.
